We’re finally back in the states, after a long trip back home. All of our equipment, and most importantly our tapes, have made it back in one piece. Traveling from Israel to DC carrying 45 hours of irreplaceable footage was quite nerve racking.
While we don’t have a computer to start logging our tapes on yet (that’s coming in the next few months), we watched parts of random tapes on an HD tv, just to get an idea of what the footage looks like on something other than the tiny camera lcd. We started with the last tape, the crane shots. The footage looked amazing, jaw dropping even. Seeing it on a big 37 inch screen in all its HD glory was surely a reward worth waiting for. The rest of the bits of footage that we watched, such as sit down interviews and other B-roll, also looked really great. On the negative side, there were a few clips that had some strange shaky camera work (the bumps and shakes are much more noticeable on a large screen), but overall the footage looks very promising. Although we won’t be able to comment much on the content of the footage until we log all of it during editing, we are definitely feeling optimistic.
