About the Project: Half-Hour Documentary Film

On 4,000 acres in Illinois, first worn out by farms, roads and parking lots, Americans rebuild – with fire, beast and seed – what is lost elsewhere. On this restored prairie habitat they seek and still find a connection to the land. A Prairie Almanac is a short documentary about the decades long work at Nachusa Grasslands to bring the prairie back. The film premiered at the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, and will have a PBS broadcast in 2024.
